Merhaba: A general greeting commonly used during the daytime. It can be used in both formal and informal situations.
Selam: A warmer and more informal greeting. It is commonly used among friends, peers, or in a casual setting.
Nasılsın? / Nasıl Gidiyor?: A common greeting expression used to ask about the well-being of the other person.
Günaydın: A morning greeting used in the early hours of the day. It is equivalent to saying “Good morning.”
İyi Akşamlar: An evening greeting used in the later hours of the day. It is equivalent to saying “Good evening.”
Hoş geldin / Hoş geldiniz: A welcoming expression used when hosting someone or entering a place. It translates to “Welcome.”
Merhaba, nasılsın? / Selam, nasılsın?: A combination of greeting and inquiring about the other person’s well-being.
Selamün Aleyküm: A common greeting among Muslim communities. It translates to “Peace be upon you,” with the response being “Aleyküm Selam,” meaning “And upon you be peace.”
