Structure of the Future Tense in Turkish
The future tense suffix is -ecek or -acak, determined by vowel harmony:
- -ecek: Used after words with e, i, ö, ü (front vowels).
- -acak: Used after words with a, ı, o, u (back vowels).
The future tense suffix combines with personal pronouns:
- Ben (I): -ecek**-im**
- Sen (you): -ecek**-sin**
- O (he/she/it): -ecek
- Biz (we): -ecek**-iz**
- Siz (you, plural/formal): -ecek**-siniz**
- Onlar (they): -ecek**-ler** or just -ecek
