What is -iyordu?

The Past Continuous Tense (-iyordu) is used to describe actions that were in progress at a specific time in the past. It’s often used for interrupted actions, parallel actions, or setting the scene in stories.

Basic Structure

Verb Root + -iyor/-ıyor/-uyor/-üyor +

Past Suffix -du/-dı/-tu/-tı

Example: gitmek (to go)

Root: git-

Present Continuous: gidiyor

Past Continuous: gidiyordu
